So for those of you who follow my blog, I thought I’d do a quick life update (mostly because I can’t think of anything creative to write about.) SO, I now live in Herndon, Virginia. My boy friend and I are currently living with my grandmother, who is showing the early signs of dementia. We figured we’d live here, save some money, spend time with her, and just help out.
I completed my job as a child snowboard instructor. Going into it, I didn’t really think I’d care about it that much. But as my time came near to an end, I realized how much I actually really, really love children. I worked mostly with 3-6 year olds. Needless to say, it was pretty entertaining. Here’s a list of things I’m NOT going to miss:
- Being called “big meany stupid teacher” because I won’t let you jump off the chairlift.
- Wiping snot bubbles away.
- Kids deciding to take it into their own hands and wipe their snot bubbles on my jacket.
- Children literally pooping themselves.
- The constant anxiety that a kid is going to lose control of their snowboard and literally go somersaulting down the Rocky Mountains.
Here’s a list of thing I AM going to miss:
- Antonella running and jumping for a hug every morning while telling me I’m “the best teacher ever.”
- Bennett telling me I “look beautiful this morning.”
- Random kids telling me they love me.
- Dog piles.
- The hilarity of witnessing an untamed human in their natural habitat.
It was fun and I was sad to go, but having been a military kid, I know there’s always new and exciting experiences to come.
Sean and I packed up our belongings and loaded the car. Accompanying us was my highly frightened cat Jake (who literally threw up, pooped, AND pissed in his carrier 🙂 ), my extremely unfriendly snake Raja (who I’m sure thought he was going to die the entire time), and my two psychotic sugar gliders. It was was an interesting ride. The drive was 25 hours and Sean drove for 24 of those. According to my calculations, that means I drove one hour, and I’m pretty sure I deserve an award for that feat.
On the trip, we stopped by my Uncle Thom’s house, who has been a lifelong friend of our family’s and is always ready to talk about the history of Chillicothe, Ohio. It was a great visit. Oh, and if you’re reading this Uncle Thom, we’re planning a trip to come see you soon!
Now I find myself at my grandma’s house. We’re all moved and settled in. I told myself I’d let myself relax and enjoy myself here, but I’ve literally already applied to about 17 nanny jobs because I am a psycho and feel like a failure if I’m unemployed.
ANYWAY, from here we’ll be moving to Greenwich, Connecticut to live with my uncle for a while. So, you may be asking yourself what the final plan is after all this? Ok, maybe not, but that’s what I’m asking myself. And I have the exact answer for you and I’m so excited to let you all know! It’s…. drumroll please… I HAVE NO FUCKING CLUE! YAY! But really. I have no idea. So, anyone who wants to ask me what I’m thinking about doing, my answer is I don’t know. My go to is “Right now I’m traveling, visiting family, and saving money. I then plan on working for a little bit until I have a nice amount of money saved up, maybe even possibly starting my own business. After I am financially secure, I will look into graduate school.” That’s the official answer and I’m sticking to it.
Anyway, I never know how to end these things. Bye for now.
